I am happy... because I have faith.

Sunday's are such a blessing. I get to sleep in, which is nice, but then mostly I get to go to church and be rejuvenated. Some sabbath days are nicer than others. Today was one of them. It must be something about it being a Fast Sunday. Bishop shared his testimony with us today and I was reminded about what it means to have faith. When a five year old can pray with such simple confident faith and be blessed so immediate when the need is so real.... it makes me think about and re-evaluate my faith, my faith in my prayers. I have faith in many things, but I have this folly...called pride. I don't rely on my Heavenly Father to help me. I keep thinking in my heart that A: I can do it on my own, or B: I don't deserve any help. Both thoughts are considerably false, and huge examples of my pride. I simply cannot do it on my own, and I do deserve help. I am a child of God. He loves me, and has promised He will always be there for me and lift me up when I fall. He looks after me and my well being. He knows me best, and will give me all I need to succeed and be happy. The only thing He asks of me, is my faith, trust, and willingness to do as He commands, and knows is best for me. I forget all these things too easily. My pride gets in the way much too often.
I'm grateful after all is said and done that He does love me, and does forgive. As long as my heart is willing and I desire to be what He wants me to be, He will be there for me.

I was reminded today that I am happy. That yes I don't always smile, and I do get frustrated and upset, but I am happy. I know things. I know about God's plan for His children. I have access to all God would give me. I know things will always work out in my best interest. I am happy. I need to remember this, especially when things seem hard and I forget about keeping things in perspective.
God love His children so much... He loves me. I'm so silly. I know all of these things, and I make mistakes. I forget about him... and doing those simple things that help me remember... remember that I am happy. tsk tsk Melisa... I should just post a simple reminder where I can see it... and then act upon it. You know what...all it needs to say is "REMEMBER" then maybe I'll get it!
Don't forget! We are loved, and never alone. :D

:D

I dyed my hair! It's hot! I must admit it was an ordeal tho. I went to the beauty college.. MISTAKE! In the end... a very very very long end It still looks good, but I had a very sore rear! I had my appointment at 10 a.m. I finally was able to walk out at 4:30 p.m. Needless to say my day was shot! At least I had a good evening. I looked good, got to go to Zoey's work Christmas dinner/party... and then laughed with my roomates untill eleven. :D

the mission ruined me...

...that is it ruined my chances of staying in one place very long without feeling like it's time for me to initiate some kind of change!
I can't believe that I have lasted in this ward for almost a whole year. woo... If it hadn't been for me changing apartments every sememster since being here I think I may have gone insane. Now what do I do... I don't have any plans for any changes for the next semester.. at least not that consist of me moving. Hmmm. I better think of something... I can already feel that desire for change closing in on me. Suggestions are welcome!
So..I just got back from a ward activity. The bishops ball. It was actually pretty fun. I really enjoyed myself, even if it confirmed my desire for some semblance of change. My good friend Jordan Mulford really made my night though. Thanks JORDAN! ...and yes, I will be missing him when he up and leaves us all to go to Jerusalem... (who can blame him...sounds fun!)
I am grateful for changes... and pray for some to come my way. Bro. Hamilton asked me tonight if anyone had talked to me yet about working in the temple... I told him that no-one had. Hopefully they do. I think that would be a good change for me... why not!?
CHANGE!!! maybe it's time to dye my hair again! ha ha!

Lesson learned...

Really I should have guessed... but I really wanted to do it. I just got done with one of the craziest weeks of my life! (that may be a slight exageration... but only just!) I had volunteered to make a wedding cake for some of my favorite people. Jessica Thayne and Kevin Hyer. I love them both. Anywho, I knew it would be difficult to produce a cake worthy of such a wonderful event, but I wanted to try. So the week came of thier wedding. I had everything all planned out in my head of how things were going to work out. I would buy all the ingredients and accessories on tuesday, make the fondant on wednesday, bake and assemble the cake thursday, and roll fondant and decorate on friday, and final touches on saturday. It was a really good plan.... if only things had worked accordingly. :( I didn't have my day off on my usual thursday because I needed to have monday off due to the fact that I had to go to court because of a ticket... and my car broke down. REALLY crazy week... Plans don't always go according to plan. I also had plans on doing most of the cake with my bishop's wife at her house... in a real kitchen. Last minute her and her husband got the chance to go to New York. I'm glad they got to go.. sad I wasn't able to borrow her, or her kitchen. I thus ended up doing all of my work in the kitchen in my apartment. Apartment kitchens never were meant to accomidate a cake decorator... that plus her roomates. Things didn't go as smoothly as planned. I had fun along the way.. even though I got a little stressed I believe I learned some very valuable lessons. It will probably be awhile before I attempt such an event again. Probably not until I have a kitchen with sufficient space... that may be awhile! I will also plan it out better, and more thuroughly!
I am happy to say that the newlywed couple liked thier cake. I know that they were probably a little more focused on other aspects of the wedding, but I think everything went very well. I am so appreciative they let me be a part of such a wonderful day.

nothing of significance....

This blog entry may not be significant, but hey, who cares!
I LOVE my job. I wake up every morning, and am actually excited to get to work, to see the people I work with, and to make tons (and I mean tons) of pastries! Who would have ever pictured me as a pastry chef! This is honestly the best job I have ever had. I'm especially grateful for the great people there who make it easy to be excited to go to work. My weeks fly by, I don't know where all the time goes. I love being busy... Life is just fantabulous! Tomorrow is stake conference. I am actually pretty excited for the things that will be taught. As I'm getting ready to be a temple worker (hopefully soon) things have been kinda crazy. I think Satan has been working against this the whole time... he's probably saying... "oh no you don't!"
BUT I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY!!! OH YES I WILL!!!!
I love the temple. Every time I go I am astounded by how much love and peace I'm able to feel. Things just fall into place. If I happen to miss a week, things just don't work out as well. There is a special power that goes with you when you serve others by temple attendance. Anyway... enough said... GO TO THE TEMPLE!

family and a birthday...

Happy 24 Autumn.... You old fart!
bha ha! I have to admit to some jealousy at the fact that I was left behind on the trip to California especially to DISNEYLAND...bummer! I had to make my own kind of fun... Wait... what did I do... oh, I worked! ja ja.. good thing that I like my job! A TON! Yesterday I drove down to Mount Pleasant, did some good ol fashioned penny surfing on the way. It's a good drive...relaxing. As I got home, all excited to see everyone I was greeted faithfully by my cat. Nobody else was even around. So much for driving down a day early to hangout with everyone before my sisters postponed birthday dinner! Oh well. I think the alone time at home was good.
I should say that I enjoyed going to church today... but that would be a lie! Seeing everyone was neat but I just realized how much I miss my ward. My family's ward just isn't the same nor as awesome. I just don't know how you could compete with the BYU 197th ward.

Zoo fun and....(insert something profound here)

I must admit to some slacking on my part... in many facets of my life. OOPS! I have gotten comfortable... and have been trying to avoid the next batch of life lessons God has prepared for me. (I don't think He's been to thrilled with that decision!)
You know.. part of me still wants to put it off just a little bit longer! :/
Welp... I better get on that...

The zoo was fun! I organized a trip to the hogle zoo! So super small world... as I was about to leave.. I saw one of my cousins.. and looked up.. and there was my uncle John... it was crazy running into them. (p.s. I have the bestest family ever!) The baby animals were adorable. I saw a baby giraffe.... a baby elephant... and some baby tigers! Babies are wonderful!
I realized that I have some wonderful friends, and we had a lot of fun.
